Bealtaine Festival/Age & Opportunity present On A House Like A Fire by Michelle Read & Brian Keegan in association with Droichead Arts Centre and Smock Alley Theatre. Bealtaine Festival, celebrating arts and creativity for older people.

In this nostalgic, funny and moving show writer-performer Michelle Read collaborates with composer Brian Keegan, to remember her mother, Margaret.

Sometimes in a gesture, or in a turn of phrase, sometimes in a cherished object, or glimpsed in an old photograph a loved one reappears. On A House Like A Fire uses an evocative score of musical echoes to help create a personal portrait of Margaret as a younger and older woman in this highly relatable and affectionate personal story.

The show explores how meaningful impressions of memory can be, and aims to bring an inter-generational audience on an immersive journey through music, words and imagery.

You too, can get involved! Do you have an object of your own that holds good memories of someone special? If so, and you would like to share that experience as part of an online exhibition of Memory Objects, click on the link after the show to see how you can take part. With your ticket you’ll also receive something special, a memory of Michelle’s. Something Margaret gave to her. Something you can make by yourself or with someone in your family, and perhaps even share during the show!

Droichead would like to invite a selection of our audience to see this special Bealtaine event for free. Are you 55 or over? Is there someone you would like to nominate? Get in touch with us by emailing Ciara on [email protected] with your full name, address and the year you were born to reserve a free place.
