The RIAM Virtual Youth Choir Summer Project invites singers age 13-18 to spend a week honing their choral singing and musicianship skills and learning about healthy vocal technique as they receive online coaching from DYC Founder Lynsey Callaghan and work on a collaborative social-distance singing project.

Participants will cover a broad range of repertoire, from renaissance polyphony to joyful spirituals and contemporary compositions by living composers. Singers will also have the option to apply to perform a piece of repertoire they have been working on for their peers, in a masterclass with a member of the Royal Irish Academy of Music's Vocal Faculty.

Note: Webinar sessions will be delivered via Zoom, and participants will need access to a device (phone, tablet, camera) which allows them to record video and audio of their part for the final project.

Lynsey Callaghan is a member of the Musicianship Faculty at the Royal Irish Academy of Music and the founder of Dublin Youth Choir. She has studied at the Kodály Institute of the Liszt Ferenc Academy of Music in Hungary and completed a master's degree in choral conducting at the Royal Irish Academy of Music. She is Artistic Director of Dublin Youth Choir, the Belfast Philharmonic Youth and Chamber Choirs and Cross Border Youth Choir. She has conducted the RTÉ National Symphony Orchestra, the RTÉ Concert Orchestra, and the Ulster Orchestra, and has worked as a musicianship tutor for the National Youth Choirs of Great Britain, Irish Youth Choir, Ulster Youth Choir and Youth Choir Kenya.
