Head of Arts Centres
The Arts Council is currently inviting applications for the role of Head of Arts Centres, on a full-time, permanent contract.
Working in collaboration with artists, arts organisations, public policy makers, and various stakeholders, the Arts Council strives to establish a prominent position for the arts within Irish society. The organisation aims to create a central space that supports the creation, presentation, and mediation of arts across various art forms and practices. Arts centres, which are publicly accessible, professionally managed, and building-based organisations, play a crucial role in achieving this objective. They facilitate professional, collaborative, voluntary, and amateur arts practices, while also fostering connections between the arts and the public.
As the Head of Arts Centres, the selected candidate will be responsible for formulating and implementing arts centre policies and strategies. This role involves managing a team consisting of an officer, a part-time assistant, and an adviser. Additionally, the Head of Arts Centres will oversee various developmental initiatives, including but not limited to Night Time Economy and public engagement strategies. Working under the guidance of the Arts Director for the Performing Arts, the Head of Arts Centres will collaborate with professionals across different art forms and practices.
Key responsibilities of the Head of Arts Centres include policy formulation, development initiatives, grant allocation, and relationship management within the team. The role also encompasses team management, contract supervision, and procurement process administration. The Head of Arts Centres will collaborate with the Arts Director, departmental management team, and other staff members to implement cross-organisational projects aligned with the objectives outlined in the Arts Council’s strategy, “Making Great Art Work.”
