Faber & Faber’s editorial department is seeking to recruit an editorial assistant, reporting to the Editorial Director, Non-fiction, and the Head of Faber Social.

The Faber non-fiction list spans history, essays, biography, narrative non-fiction, popular science, psychology, philosophy, economics, natural history and gift titles. Authors include Jacqueline Rose, Justine Picardie, Eula Biss, Sue Prideaux, Gary Younge, Amelia Gentleman, Sara Pascoe and David Mitchell. The Faber Social publishes on music and pop culture. It features writers such as Jon Savage and Paul Morley, as well as musicians such as Kate Bush, Viv Albertine, Neil Tennant, Van Morrison, Cosey Fanni Tutti, Kate Tempest and Billy Bragg.

The editorial assistant’s responsibilities will include providing exceptional author care, maintaining bibliographic systems and metadata, providing administrative support including diary management and processing expenses, assisting in logging, reading and responding to submissions, occasional proofreading and copy-checking, and liaising with other departments.

The successful candidate will be extremely organised and have excellent people skills, an eye for detail, a flair for copy and a passion for non-fiction, music and publishing. Previous office experience an advantage. This is a full-time position based in our London office. Salary £23,000.
