Friday, 21 July 2023, 5.00pm

The Ulster Orchestra, along with their partners Colin Neighbourhood Partnership, Shankill Children’s Zone and Queen's University Innovation Zones, are seeking experienced and qualified music tutors to be part of our flagship Crescendo Project. The partners’ vision is to improve outcomes for children through music.

The project aims to increase the resilience, aspirations and emotional development of children from areas of social and economic disadvantage through a programme of music skills development, to increase participants’ musical skills while contributing to their improved wellbeing and self-worth.

Situated in four schools in north and west Belfast, the project aims to deliver weekly workshops with P1-P3 classes to develop fundamental music skills and progressing to learning orchestral instruments from P4-P7.

We are currently recruiting tutors in the following instruments:

- Upper Strings (violin and viola)
- Double Bass

There will be a range of hours available to suit the needs of the project, from approximately 9+ hours a week. Successful candidates will be employed on a workers contract, with a rate of £36 per hour.

Full details about the role requirements and how to apply can be found on the Ulster Orchestra careers page (link below). Closing date for applications is 5pm on 21July 2023. Interviews will take place on 8 August 2023, and ideally the successful candidates will be available to commence from week commencing 2 October 2023, and to attend a meeting in September 2023.

The Ulster Orchestra  is striving to be truly representative of all aspects of  diversity and to offer a fully inclusive working environment.  We are  committed to equality of opportunity and welcome applications from all suitably qualified candidates, irrespective of age, disability, gender reassignment, marriage and civil partnership, race, religion or belief, sex or sexual orientation. The appointment will be made on merit with openness and transparency of process.
