Irish cellist Ailbhe McDonagh will perform two of Bach's Solo Cello Suites at the United Arts Club, Fitzwilliam Street, Dublin 2 on 22 November at 7:30pm.

Experience these captivating and expressive compositions written for solo cello and performed by Ailbhe McDonagh at the intimate surroundings of the United Arts Club's historic Georgian townhouse.

The programme includes two solo cello suites written by Johann Sebastian Bach:
Suite No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007
Suite No. 6 in D major, BWV 1012

Additionally, Ailbhe will provide an intro talk on the iconic baroque cello pieces composed by the masterful Bach over three centuries ago.

About Ailbhe McDonagh

Ailbhe McDonagh is a renowned Irish cellist who has earned international recognition as both a soloist and chamber musician. According to Fanfare Magazine, “she plays with flawless technique, faultless intonation, and a strong yet meltingly sweet tone”. Ailbhe has performed at prestigious venues such as Carnegie Hall, the Yale Norfolk Festival, and the Schleswig Holstein Music Festival, as well as being a celebrated concerto soloist. Ailbhe has given performances for the Irish President at Áras an Uachtaráin, appears regularly on national television and radio, and her multiple studio recordings have been broadcast worldwide.

During 2022 Ailbhe recorded the complete Bach Cello Suites, the first such recording of these masterful works by an Irish cellist. They are due for release soon.
