On Friday, 1st September 2023, Guatemalan cellist and composer, Mabe Fratti, is scheduled to perform at The Studio, located within the National Concert Hall. The performance will commence at 8:30 pm, with ticket prices set at €20.

The upcoming event will feature Mabe Fratti’s work titled ‘Se Ve Desde Aquí’ (‘It Is Seen From Here’). This release represents a departure from Fratti’s earlier works, offering a distinct sound compared to her previous compositions. The artist has mentioned that this music has a drier texture, providing a more forthright display of emotion. Fratti’s approach to this piece was to aim for rawness, minimising the overdubbing of the same instrument while still giving herself the flexibility to deviate from this principle when she felt it was necessary. The sonic presentation combines both noisy instrumentation and melodic lines, leading to a rich, albeit judiciously crafted, auditory experience.

Fratti’s intention for this release is to provide a clearer representation of her creative philosophy and method, which she describes as a process of ongoing “sonic transformation”. She acknowledges the evolution and change in her approach to sound and music, especially in the interval between completing a record and its release.
