Adrian Hart studied violin with Eta Cohen, and is a graduate of the Purcell School of Music, the Royal Irish Academy of Music, and Trinity College Dublin, studying composition with Donnacha Dennehy and Roger Doyle. As a violin and fiddle player, Adrian performs within many styles of music, including Irish traditional, contemporary-classical, electro-acoustic and improvised music. Adrian has played Irish traditional fiddle music since his early childhood, growing up in county Down. He has performed professionally with many irish traditional bands, both in Ireland and abroad. Over the last 20 years, he has extended his repertoire of traditional fiddle music to include other styles, in particular those of eastern-Europe and ‘oldtime’ music-- the name given generally to the many regional traditional styles of playing found in parts of North-America. Adrian is currently a member of the Yurodny ensemble, performing eastern-European repertoire with contemporary and improvised music. For over 12 years Adrian has been the fiddle player in the highly acclaimed roots and Americana band I Draw Slow, who’s albums and live concerts have earned them success across the United States, Ireland and Europe. Adrian is also a composer of electo-acoustic music. His compositions have been performed and broadcast throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and the US. His compositions focus particularly on extending instrumental techniques found in traditional fiddle repertoire. In 2013, Adrian released his first Solo album ‘Cuisle’, on the Diatribe label.
