Pilgrim St
Strongly influenced by Bruce Springsteen’s ‘Seeger Sessions’, Pilgrim St formed to bring these tunes to the live venues of the North East Region. With songs ranging from bluegrass, old time country, folk and their own original songs, they have played some high profile gigs including Electric Picnic and Vicar street in 2014 and plenty more planned all over Ireland in 2015.
Members include seven seasoned musicians: Peadar and Richie Farrelly, who bring their stage presence, vocal style and tight knit harmonies to the group. Eugene Donegan, on banjo, enters the fray as the third lead vocalist and adds a pace and a raw energy reminiscent of the old time sound. Cathal McQuaid, renowned as a top class fiddle player, brings a fresh twist to the old country style tunes, while Eoin McDonnell fills in the gaps with melodic mandolin licks and tricks. Mark Lynch fills out the sound on slide guitar, adding his own brand of melodic class to the group and holding the whole lot together is Francis McGinn on bass.
