CLE 'LEAVES'

CLE 'LEAVES'

Sunday, 11 July 2021, 8.30pm

In this festival finale, CLE experiment and innovate with their unique blend of analogue electronics, live piano, spoken word, computer code and visual production techniques - this performance will be a unique treat for the senses.

CLE are an electro-acoustic music and digital media ensemble based in Clonmel. Dynamic yet meditative, their work blends their love of vintage electronica and ambient music with contemporary-classical inspired textures.

In June2020 they released their first 2 Ep’s ‘The Chaos Approach’ and ‘The Great Filter’ (available to purchase from Bandcamp: https://clemusic1.bandcamp.com)

Also in 2020 they received a commission from The Source Arts Centre that resulted in the 14 minute ‘Coming Soon’ - a menacing soundtrack to 2020 of brooding moog synthesisers, corybantic audioscapes and spoken word.

Memorable performances include their debut at the 2019 Clonmel Junction Arts Festival and their appearance at Culture Night 2019 which was highlighted on RTÉ Radio1 arts show Arena. Further performances include the Z E I T 4 electronic music festival, a commissioned live soundtrack of 1922 silent movie classic by FW Murnau ‘Nosferatu’ for the launch of the Tipperary County Museum’s new interactive exhibition, and a night of ambient, downtempo electronica in the Source Arts Centre, Thurles in February 2020. In 2020 they also appeared at CJAF as part of the ‘Clonmel Originals‘ series. For CJAF 2021 they will be performing a program of entirely new material created and arranged specifically for this performance.

LEAVES is a meditation on nature and inclusion alongside the redundancy of fixed thought patterns.

It encourages a collective thread that considers the constitutional branching structure of leaves together with the materiality of leaves which in themselves key the ephemerality, the fragmentary and the interconnectedness of our existence.
