Nonclassical AiR (Artist In Residence) 2024/25
Nonclassical, the contemporary and electronic music label in London, seeks four UK-based composers demonstrating extraordinary ability and potential to join its Artist in Residence (AiR) initiative for the 2024/25 term. The programme provides the opportunity for early-career artists to expand their horizons in contemporary classical, electronic, and experimental music, offering a comprehensive understanding of modern compositional landscapes. The initiative is supported by the Jerwood Developing Artists Fund, PRS Foundation’s Open Fund, and Vaughan Williams Foundation.
AiR provides participants with numerous professional opportunities, including paid commissions for orchestral pieces, mentorship from established industry figures, and involvement in Nonclassical’s curated events. The programme encourages applications from underrepresented and marginalised groups.
Applications open Wednesday, 19 July, and close Monday, 14 August. Applicants must be over 18, based in the UK, not in formal education, without a recording or publishing contract, and must not have received a paid orchestral commission previously.
