Associate Lecturer in Popular Music
The Department of Art and Music at Solent University is seeking a highly motivated and organised Associate Lecturer in Popular Music. This part-time, hourly-paid position requires a candidate with extensive experience in Higher Education teaching at both undergraduate and postgraduate levels. The role necessitates expertise in music technology, performance, electronic music, and production, complemented by substantial industry experience and networks.
Responsibilities include lesson planning for workshops, delivering lectures, contributing to student support activities, and developing and updating teaching materials. The candidate should be resourceful, self-motivated, and possess excellent communication skills.
Essential criteria for this role include a good honours degree in a music-related subject area (PhD preferred), in-depth knowledge of both contemporary and historical electronic music practices, and popular music performance practices. Experience in Higher Education teaching, ability to achieve Fellow Status in the Higher Education Academy’s Professional Recognition scheme, understanding of grading and record keeping to academic standards, engagement in research and scholarly activities, and experience in pedagogic and practitioner research are also required.
