Cork International Choral Festival 2012 will take place from 2 to 6 May featuring over 80 events of high quality choral music.

Cork International Choral Festival 2012 will feature over 4,000 voices spread across over 80 events. The festival opens on 2 May with a gala performance of Mozart’s Requiem, given by the Orchestra of St. Cecelia with the Goethe-Institut Choir and some of Ireland’s leading soloists, including Sharon Carty, Eamonn Mulhall, Virginia Kerr and Philip O’Reilly.

A number of high profile vocal ensembles will appear in the festival, including the King’s Singers on 3 May, the National Chamber Choir with ‘An Irish Colloquy’ on 4 May, which features world premieres of music by Gerald Barry and Frank Corcoran, the Czech ensemble the Gentleman Singers, and many mroe besides.

In addition, the festival will feature 70 choirs from across Ireland for a range of choral competitions held at Cork City Hall, whose categories include Chamber, Youth, Light, Jazz and Popular Music, and Church Music.
