Full time post
Salary range £24k - £32k dependent on experience

BACKGROUND
Open House is a small independent charity, based in Bangor Northern Ireland, that aims to transform people and places through arts and cultural activity. It runs an arts festival in Bangor each summer, and in October 2022 opened its own independent music and arts venue in the former Court House on Bangor seafront.

THE ROLE
The role requires strong graphic design skills, comprehensive knowledge and understanding of social media, web development, technical skills in collecting and analysing audience behaviour and engagement data.

This is an exciting, fast paced and at times pressured working environment which often brings tight deadlines. It needs someone who is committed, passionate about what we do, resourceful and flexible, and who wants to be part of a great team. This is not a 9 to 5 job and may require working some weekends or evenings. But it is a hugely rewarding role for someone who loves live music and the arts. You can expect each day to be different – one day you might be designing posters to announce Court House shows, the next you could be building a landing page for one of our larger festival events.

We’ve previously worked with John Lydon and PiL, The Specials, John Grant, Sleaford Mods, David Holmes, Martha Wainwright, The Florentinas, Villagers, Snow Patrol and Shane Todd among thousands of others. Coming up in the next few months we have Wilco, Foy Vance, Billy Bragg and Hannah Peel.

KEY DUTIES
• Graphic design across all digital platforms to maintain our strong visual brand and outstanding design including:
- designing gig posters using artist photos or sourced images
- designing signs, logos and other graphics
- resizing and altering images to be used on social media and website
• Produce our weekly Court House e-newsletter (to 7,800), plus regular Festival newsletters during summer season (to 17,000)
• Create show listings for our website (WordPress) and ticketing system (Ticketsolve),
• Capture, edit and manage photos & videos for use on social media
• Create social media posts and schedules (Facebook, Instagram & X)

OTHER DUTIES
• Digital management eg. maintaining website, managing GDrive & staff emails
• Sending logos, photos and other media to press / funders / partners
• Reporting: designing surveys, and analysing web, social media and box office data
• Supporting and training other staff on digital tools
• Answering customer queries via social media
• Continually review and explore new digital tools to improve customer experience, organisation productivity and reduce costs
• GDPR audits and compliance
• Implementing Cyber Security including installing and testing new security measures, reporting and investigating IT security incidents, implementing a plan to prevent any security breaches.

SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
• We would ideally like someone with 2 years experience delivering excellent digital marketing with clearly defined successes. However, we are also willing to consider someone who has exceptional design and digital skills, passion and the right attitude, and is prepared to work hard to make up for a lack of experience.
• Proven graphic design experience – especially the ability to turn work around quickly
• Web development knowledge, specifically using CMSs like WordPress with a general understanding of HTML, CSS and hosting management including emails.
• Extensive experience of social media.
• Excellent organisational skills including an ability to manage several projects at once, prioritise and work to tight deadlines.
• Photography and video editing experience (for social media but not for TikTok!)
• Experience of / interest in working in an arts or music related environment.
• Ability to write clear concise copy would be an additional benefit.

This is a two year post supported by the Dormant Accounts Fund through the National Lottery Community Fund. However, we hope that the role may then become permanent.
