Sunday, 21 May 2023, 7.30pm

Dublin City Council has announced "Sing a Song of Docklands," a concert scheduled for May 21st at the Bord Gáis Theatre in Dublin. The event, created in partnership with Sing Ireland and Creative Ireland, showcases four new songs developed alongside the local communities of the Docklands.

The four commissioned songs are "The Point of the Tide" by Max Greenwood, inspired by Ringsend/Irishtown; "The Boat People of Grand Canal Dock" by Alain Servant, representing Grand Canal/Pearse Street; "The River Carries Us Home" by Carmel Whelan, dedicated to North Wall Sheriff Street; and "The Dockside Man" by Macdara Yeates, celebrating East Wall.

Under the guidance of David Brophy, these songs were created to connect and celebrate the diverse communities in the Docklands, with artists working closely with schools, youth groups, residents, and community groups.

At the "Sing a Song of Docklands" concert, Sing Ireland affiliate choirs, including Kings Hospital School Choir, Cór na nÓg, Guinness Choir, and Maryfield College Choir, will perform the four new commissioned songs. The event, curated by David Brophy and directed by MD David Hayes, also features guest supporting acts such as Jerry Fish, DJ Robbie Kitt, and Ciaran Kelly.

Tickets for the event, priced at €11.50 plus booking fees, are available on www.ticketmaster.ie.
