ABOUT THE ROLE

Children’s Books Ireland is seeking a part-time Social Media Officer to support the creation of engaging, creative content across our social media platforms. The successful candidate will be an experienced content creator who can communicate our impact, build brand awareness and reach new audiences with our recommendations and expertise.

Working closely with our Communications Manager, you will be involved in all things content creation from ideation to implementation, creative development and distribution across all our social channels – TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube, with a particular focus on short-form video content.

This is an exciting, fast-paced new role for someone who enjoys creating videos, graphics and other digital content for social media.
Reporting to the Communications Manager, the Social Media Officer will:
• Closely monitor social media trends and identify content opportunities for Children’s Books Ireland
• Pitch, create and post engaging, quick-turnaround content for TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and YouTube
• Ensure content adheres to house style, brand identity and tone of voice
• Collaborate with other members of staff to gather content across project rollouts and events
• Analyse monthly video performance and identify opportunities for growth
• Assist in planning and scheduling of content calendar

REQUIREMENTS:

• Be able to confidently carry out the responsibilities outlined above while working independently and as part of a small, creative, fast-paced team.
• Experience with video editing and graphic design using Adobe Creative Cloud (Premiere Pro, Photoshop) and Canva
• Proven experience in creating engaging social content to drive channel growth and build community
• In depth understanding of current social media trends across platforms
• Strong copywriting and editing skills with excellent attention to detail
• Strong interpersonal skills: the ideal candidate will be friendly, professional and able to engage with colleagues and partners at various levels

The following are desirable, but not essential:
• Proficiency in written and spoken Irish
• Experience in paid social advertising
• Knowledge of the children’s and YA publishing sector
• Full driving license and access to a vehicle

Reporting To: Communications Manager

Location: The successful candidate will have the option of working from the office on one or both days. Flexibility and willingness to travel island-wide will be required to attend events, school visits, photocalls etc. Travel expenses will be provided. Our office is based on the first floor at 17 North Great George’s Street, Dublin 1. Office location may change, but will remain in central Dublin.

Start date: As soon as possible

Contract duration: Permanent

Hours of work: 2 days/16 hours per week (including one hour paid lunch break per day), working hours are flexible between 8 a.m. and 5.30 p.m. and we are happy to discuss how the hours are spread across the week with the successful candidate. Occasional evening or weekend work may be required. Additional hours may be available during busy periods, particularly for the remainder of 2023.

Remuneration/benefits: €10,800 (€27,000 pro rata) per annum. 5% matching pension contribution after 6 months probation. 25 days’ annual leave. Ability to work flexibly. Mobile phone allowance €14 per month and work from home payment €3.20 per day provided.
