Eoghan Desmond Amra Choluim Chille (World Premiere)

The sacred music of Hildegard of Bingen came to the fore twenty-five years ago. O Virtus Sapientiae is one of her very beautiful chants enriched by the voices of Chamber Choir Ireland.

Arvo Pärt’s Fratres shimmers with emotion. Minimalist and majestic – it is food for the soul. ICO sparkles in Silouans Song, an instrumental work, that reflects Pärt’s devotion to his faith. Sibelius rearranged his choral work Rakastava, for strings, triangle. and timpani. It paints an earthy and erotic picture of young love. Finally, Amra Choluim Chille by Eoghan Desmond, a new Irish language cantata for choir, strings, harp, and percussion is inspired by Irish traditional music. The well-known tune Columba features throughout the piece, in a manner inspired by sean-nós singing.
