Arthur’s Blues & Jazz Club is pleased to announce an upcoming performance by Hugh Buckley’s Purple Dayz on Saturday, 17th February 2024, from 20:30 to 23:00 GMT. The event, set to take place at the club located at 28 Thomas Street, Dublin, will feature the renowned Irish jazz guitarist Hugh Buckley alongside his organ trio, as they present tunes from their forthcoming album, ‘Purple Dayz’.

The project showcases Buckley’s exploration of pop and rock songs from the 1960s and 1970s, reinterpreted within the jazz genre. The setlist includes pieces by iconic artists such as the Isley Brothers, Jimmy Webb, Labi Siffre, the Beatles, Andy Fairweather-Low, Hendrix, Eddie Holman, and Dave Edmunds, promising a night of nostalgic melodies through a contemporary jazz lens.

For this special project, Buckley will be joined by Scott Flanigan on organ and Dominic Mullan on drums. The trio aims to bring a fresh perspective to well-loved classics, drawing from their rich musical backgrounds and shared passion for jazz.

Hugh Buckley has expressed enthusiasm for the project, noting the personal significance of the songs chosen and the opportunity to perform them with esteemed colleagues. The event represents a culmination of Buckley’s long-held ambition to reinterpret the soundtrack of his formative years within the format of an organ trio, a setup he holds in high regard.
