Monday, 3 October 2022, 12.00pm

The Barbican is hiring a Communications Manager (Music).

Reporting to the Senior Communications Manager – Programming, and managing small teams of Communications Officers and/or Assistants, it will be your role to develop and deliver creative audience-focused communications campaigns to showcase everything the Barbican has to offer across your artform and support audience development.

The primary focus of the role is on press and media, and you will have direct responsibility for proactive and reactive media handling – driving positive preview, listings and review coverage and expertly spotting potential risks and handling crises. You’ll also work seamlessly with the marketing and digital teams to ensure communications strategies, campaigns and tactics are fully integrated across all channels. And you’ll build strong relationships with key stakeholders within music including resident and associate companies, producers, record labels, agents, artists, curators and performers.

The ideal candidate will be confident working directly with media and a range of stakeholders. You will have demonstrable experience of objective setting and evaluation, and using results to further refine and improve communications plans. You’ll also be a dynamic and committed team player, and a confident and diplomatic communicator. A passion for the arts is important, and experience and knowledge of music and arts would be a clear advantage.
