Sarah Richmond, Mezzo-Soprano recital

Tuesday, 25 June 2024, 7.00pm

Join 2021 winner of the Bernadette Greevy Bursary, Sarah Richmond, accompanied by Dearbhla Collins, for an evening of song.

Sarah’s winning performance was adjudicated by conductor David Brophy and opera singer Naomi Louisa O’Connell.

Commenting on Sarah’s win, adjudicator Naomi Louisa O’Connell said: ‘Sarah’s ability to fully inhabit the repertoire she was performing – both vocally and dramatically – was exceptional. Her performance was highly polished, intensely focused, and exciting to witness. I look forward to seeing her work on international stages.’

The award is named in memory of the renowned Irish mezzo Bernadette Greevy (1940–2008), who was Artistic Director of the Anna Livia International Opera Festival and Artist in Residence at the Dublin Institute of Technology. The award aims to provide opportunities for emerging Irish singers.

Winner of the 2021 Toronto Mozart Vocal Competition and finalist at the 2022 Montserrat Caballé Competition in Teatro Real, mezzo Sarah Richmond is a rising star, with Opera Now reviewing "intelligent singing conveyed the determination of her character, and her consistently supple and finely shaped coloratura portrayed the kaleidoscope of feelings endured by her character. Brava."
Sarah is supported by the National Lottery through the Arts Council of Northern Ireland.

This evening’s programme will include Manuel de Falla's Siete Canciones Populares Españolas, and works by Gustav Mahler and Conor Mitchell.
