Travels Over Feeling: The Music of Arthur Russell Played by Speakers Corner Quartet and friends
The Barbican in London is set to host a special concert on 25 May 2024, dedicated to celebrating the life and work of American musician and composer Arthur Russell. Russell, recognised by The Guardian as one of the 20th-century's true musical visionaries, is known for his diverse and pioneering body of work that spans over two decades.
The concert, titled 'Travels Over Feeling: The Music of Arthur Russell', is part of a series of contemporary music events at the Barbican. It will feature performances by the Speakers Corner Quartet, a group that started in 2006 and gained prominence after their sold-out show 'Further out than the Edge' in 2021. They are known for their innovative and fluid collective approach to music.
Joining the Speakers Corner Quartet will be Lucinda Chua, an ambient pop artist known for her proficiency on the cello. Additional members of the Quartet's musical family will also be on stage, with names to be announced closer to the event date.
This event is not only a concert but also celebrates the release of Richard King's landmark publication, "Travels over Feeling: Arthur Russell, A Life."
