Small Church, a band comprising four talented alumni from Limerick School of Art & Design, emerged during the post-Covid-19 period within the art college. Seizing the opportunity presented by the pandemic, the band utilized the time for writing and jamming, resulting in a substantial collection of material eagerly awaiting its live performance.

Fusing elements of Grunge and Shoegaze, Small Church has developed a unique sound characterized by the interplay of melodic or distorted bass progressions, complemented by dreamy rhythm guitar layers and soaring synth lead riffs that often mimic guitar solo runs. The band’s drum section showcases unconventional fills and dynamic variations, adding further depth and complexity to their music. Fronted by lead vocalist Andreea Mocanu (also known for her work with Powpig), Small Church benefits from her ethereal vocal quality capable of conveying tenderness in softer moments while effortlessly ascending towards climactic crescendos.
