The Arts Council is currently seeking a Head of Multi-Disciplinary Arts.

Working in collaboration with artists, arts organisations, public policy makers, and various stakeholders, the Arts Council aims to establish a central place for the arts within Irish life. In line with this objective, the Head of Multi-Disciplinary Arts will be entrusted with the development and implementation of a multi-disciplinary arts policy. This team also oversees several funding schemes that cut across different art forms, including touring, Open Call, Next Generation, and Artists Residencies.

Multi-disciplinary arts encompass practices, initiatives, and events that involve the presence of two or more artistic forms. Interdisciplinary arts, on the other hand, refer to practices, initiatives, and events that maintain a balanced integration of two or more artistic forms throughout the creative, production, and presentation processes. These artistic forms may either remain distinct or be combined to give rise to new, unified forms.

Reporting to the Arts Director for the Performing Arts, the Head of Multi-Disciplinary Arts will collaborate closely with the Heads of Festivals, Arts Centres, Arts Participation, and Young People Children and Education. The role encompasses policy formulation, development initiatives, grant allocation, and relationship management within the team. Additionally, the Head of Multi-Disciplinary Arts will be responsible for team management, contract supervision, and procurement process administration. Collaborating with the Arts Director, the departmental management team, and other staff members, the Head of Multi-Disciplinary Arts will contribute to the implementation of specific cross-organisational projects that align with the objectives outlined in the Arts Council’s strategy, “Making Great Art Work.”

Applicants interested in this position must submit their applications by 12.00 noon on Monday 17 July 2023.
