Job Description:

St. Ultan's Primary School is seeking a dedicated and talented Music Director to lead our El Sistema inspired PRESTO Music Project. As the Music Director, you will play a pivotal role in shaping and directing the musical direction of our PRESTO Project. You will work with and lead our school orchestra and our team of tutors to create opportunities for our young people through music. You will be responsible for the setting and maintaining of high standards at all times, while also being sensitive and responsive to the context in which you will work. In this role you will maintain the core integrity of the PRESTO Music Project programme - whole class strings, orchestra, voice/choir with a variety of genre including classical.

Responsibilities:

• Curate and arrange music for performances, rehearsals, and events.

• Lead and conduct rehearsals with precision and enthusiasm, fostering a collaborative atmosphere across our integrated care and education campus.

• Ensure the highest musical standards are met in all performances.

• Stay up-to-date with industry trends and introduce innovative ideas to motivate our young musicians.

• Manage a team of part-time tutors, a programme facilitator and programme administrator.

• Manage programme budgets and source funding and bursary streams.

• Oversee the recruitment and HR responsibilities for all programme staff.

• Manage and maintain musical instruments and equipment.

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in music or a related field (or equivalent experience).

• Proven experience as a Music Director or Conductor.

• Proven experience with whole group instrument instruction (strings an advantage).

• Exceptional conducting and musical arranging skills.

• A team player with a strong passion for music and the arts with excellent communication and leadership abilities.

• Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to work under pressure.

• Proven experience of teaching and working with children of primary school age

• Experience teaching and working with 12-18yr olds an advantage
