Apply for Work Experience with BBC Music Stations

Placements available throughout January, February and March 2016.

BBC Radio 1, 1Xtra and 3 are all currently offering work experience opportunities and are accepting applications up until midnight on Sunday 29 November.

The work experience placements are generally one week in duration and provide an insight into the making of programmes, marketing, editing, brainstorming at meetings, the use of social media, location broadcasts and live sessions.

The opportunities are available throughout January, February and March 2016 and take place in various BBC buildings across London.

BBC Radio 1 is the UK’s biggest youth radio station, specialising in dance and rock, and home to presenters such as Nick Grimshaw, Scott Mills and Greg James.

Radio 1Xtra is the BBC’s digital youth radio station, specialising in hip hop, grime, r&b and afrobeats. DJs include Charlie Sloth, Mistajam and A.Dot. 

Classical music is at the core of BBC Radio 3, but it also broadcasts a range of jazz, world music, contemporary music and speech programmes. Presenters include Clemency Burton-Hill, Sean Rafferty and Fiona Talkington.

There are also work experience opportunities on the arts show Front Row, on radio programmes in the BBC’s Salford studios, on regional radio stations throughout the UK, in the music business unit, and on BBC Wales.
