Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin's 'Concertino for Fiddle' featuring Paddy Glackin (1981)

Gael-Linn have this week re-released Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin’s recording of film and radio music from 1981, Cry of the Mountain.

Featuring seven tracks, the centrepiece is a sixteen-minute Concertino for Fiddle focusing on the set-dance and slow-air ‘Seán Ó Duibhir an Ghleanna’. The piece originated in an RTÉ radio documentary of the same name produced by Tony MacMahon in the 1970s.

Listen below to the Concertino for Fiddle featuring Paddy Glackin (fiddle), Séamus Tansey (flute), Mel Mercier (bones), Paul Mercier (bodhrán) Dave Hennessy (concertina/melodeon), Ursula Willis (bass viola) and Mícheál Ó Súilleabháin (harpsichord).  Cry of the Mountain is available from the RTÉ shop
