Cork County Council is inviting individuals and groups in Cork County to submit proposals to participate in Culture Night, scheduled for Friday 22 September.

Culture Night, also known as Oíche Chultúir, is a nationwide event that brings together arts and cultural organisations with the aim of inviting the public to experience, enjoy, and actively engage with the diverse cultural and creative resources available in their community.

The council is seeking contributions to create an evening filled with open events, providing free access to exhibitions, cultural spaces, performances, workshops, games, and other cultural activities. Proposed events can range from simple storytelling sessions or exhibitions to more elaborate concerts, dance performances, or parades, all reflecting the vibrant and diverse culture of County Cork.

The available funding is limited and can be utilised to cover expenses such as professional artists’ fees or costs associated with other professional services. Applicants are required to provide a detailed breakdown of these expenses in their proposals. Each proposal will be evaluated based on its potential contribution to the overall Culture Night programme. If deemed suitable, the council will allocate a proposed budget to the chosen proposals. It is important to note that all events must be offered free of charge. However, generating revenue through the sale of artworks, voluntary contributions, raffles, and similar means is permitted.
