Brìghde Chaimbeul @ Kilkenny Arts Festival 2023
The Kilkenny Arts Festival has announced that Scottish piper Brìghde Chaimbeul is set to perform as part of the Marble City Sessions on 18 August 2023. The event will be held at 5pm in the Tudor Kitchen of Rothe House.
While the festival has a history of hosting uilleann pipers, Scottish pipers have been less frequent participants. Chaimbeul, known for her distinct arrangements for the smallpipes (a bellows-blown form of bagpipe), gained recognition with her debut album, “The Reeling”. This album led to her earning a BBC Radio 2 Folk Award among other accolades. Since its release, Chaimbeul has collaborated with various artists, including Radie Peat of Lankum and Canadian saxophonist Colin Stetson. Recently, she released an album titled “Carry Them with Us”.
Tickets for Brìghde Chaimbeul’s performance are priced at €20/€18 and can be purchased through the Kilkenny Arts Festival website.
