Malcolm Proud & Darren Cornish-Moore @ Kilkenny Arts Festival 2023
Kilkenny Arts Festival will present a performance by Malcolm Proud and Darren Cornish-Moore on 19 August at 11am in St Canice’s Cathedral.
Malcolm Proud, an organist with a history of performances at the Festival, will be joined by Darren Cornish-Moore, known for his prowess on various instruments, including the modern and baroque trumpets and cornetto. The two artists previously collaborated in 2021 when Cornish-Moore was the artist in residence at the LexIcon Theatre in Dun Laoghaire. Since then, they have worked together, including performances with the Irish Baroque Orchestra.
The performance is expected to showcase renaissance music from European composers such as John Dowland and William Byrd. The programme includes pieces from Dowland’s ‘Tosse not my Soule’ and ‘Come Again’, William Byrd’s ‘Sellinger’s Rownde’, and works from Jan Pieterszoon Sweelinck and Giovanni Pierluigi da Palestrina, among others.
