Traditional music is not static; it shifts with the times, uncovering new meanings in old words, new ways of talking about the communal pathways that led us to where we are today. For master musicians Allison de Groot & Tatiana Hargreaves, traditional banjo and fiddle music is a way to interpret our uncertain times, to draw artistic inspiration and power from the sources of meaning in their lives. History, family, literature, live performance, and environmental instability all manifest in the sounds, feelings, and sensations that permeate their music. Their 2022 sophomore album, Hurricane Clarice is a direct infusion of centuries of matrilineal folk wisdom, a fiery breath of apocalyptic energy.

We're delighted to welcome the amazing Ye Vagabonds for their first proper Fiddle Fair appearance. They did perform to a very select, invited cardboard cut-out audience of dignitaries in Baltimore Castle in 2021 but this time will be for real!
Brothers Brían and Diarmuid MacGloinn grew up playing music together around their hometown of Carlow. After moving to Dublin in 2012 they quickly became a staple of the vibrant session scene there, playing their own original songs as well as folk songs from Ireland, Scotland, England and America.
Now one of the most popular live acts in the country, they have released three critically acclaimed albums and won numerous awards. We’re delighted they’re here with us this year and we trust that they’ll get a better response than the somewhat muted reaction they received in 2021.
