Chamber Choir Ireland Announces CCI Studio for Emerging Choral Singers
Chamber Choir Ireland has announced a new initiative called CCI Studio, a professional development opportunity for emerging choral singers. The programme is open for applications until 25 August and training will begin this autumn.
CCI Studio is open to singers at an early stage of their careers and will provide three intensive training weekends from late 2023 to 2024. The first weekend of the programme will take place from 17 to 19 November and will provide twenty-two participating singers with specialist vocal workshops, guidance and mentoring from CCI singers and CCI Studio conductor Eamonn Dougan.
Eight of the twenty-two singers will progress to the next stages of the CCI Studio programme, scheduled to take place between January and June 2024. These sessions will include vocal coaching, side-by-side rehearsals, professional development sessions and paid performance opportunities with CCI. Singers who are not selected for the second stage will be given constructive feedback and guidance for professional development. They will also remain eligible to submit an application the following year.
Tuition and mentoring costs covered
The full CCI Studio programme will be offered to participants at no expense, with all tuition and mentoring costs covered as part of the initiative. Singers will also receive payment for performance engagements and a travel and subsistence stipend will be offered where appropriate.
Singers born or based in Ireland or Northern Ireland with the aim of a professional career in choral music are eligible to apply. Applications must include a CV, cover letter, reference from a teacher or choir director, and a short recording of a solo performance.
Commenting on the new programme, Majella Hollywood, CEO of CCI, said:
We want the CCI Studio to fulfil the need that exists in Ireland at present for a dedicated programme equipping young talent with the necessary skills and know-how to pursue a professional choral singing career. We are delighted to help identify and nurture the choral singers of the future through this initiative.
