A new radio documentary produced by John Lillis and Peter Curtin for the station SPIN South West covers the growing hip-hop scene in Shannon, County Clare. The documentary, Show N’ Prove: The Story of Shannon Hip-Hop, looks at the wider role of hip-hop in Shannon as well as focussing on specific artists, God Knows and Bubba Jay.

The documentary, just under forty minutes in length, features extensive interviews with young people from Shannon, who largely give a grim picture of the town and their prospects in it. ‘Young people in the town are striving to define their own cultural identity through music – specifically hip hop and rap,’ adds the presenter Peter Curtin.
